It is that time of year again… 2019 team photos! We will be trying a couple of new ideas this season. Firstly, all photos will be taken at our Gymea Bay Oval Community Hall – not at the netball clubhouse as in previous years.
As Football continues to grow in the Sutherland Shire, the need for more referees to help officiate these games increases. More than ever, we are looking for mature (male and female) volunteers to help grow the pool of refereeing talent to cover senior games in the Shire. To support this, mid-season intake courses are now scheduled for June 2019.

The SSFA has advised team ID sheets will now be ready for use this weekend, Round 1.
It is really important for each team (u12+) to pick up their ID sheets before your Rd 1 game. If you missed Friday’s pickup, the team’s manager or coach should collect them from GBO’s ground control, 7am – noon, on Saturday or Sunday morning.
What a fabulous start to the club’s 60th year celebrations. Gymea played a great game, scoring just before halftime to lead 1 nil. The boys fought hard right through the second half conceding the equaliser in the 92nd minute in injury time. Unfortunately the game went to extra time & had no luck whatsoever …
Wet weather occasionally forces gala days, training and games to be cancelled. The SSFA clubs determine if games are played on weekends. A fabulous night was enjoyed by everyone at GUFC’s Senior Presentation last night. HUGE thanks to GUFC committee member, Mel for organising the night and Robyn and Andrew for organising all the trophies.
Once again, pelting rain, thunder, lightning and hail threatened the Shire on the week leading up to 2018 Junior Presentation. Unlike previous years, the GUFC committee smiled and thanked the ‘social’ committee for making the decision to hold the 2018 Junior Presentation at a NEW, fun all weather venue.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to GUFC’s W16A/1 on WINNING today’s 16 girls State Cup Final 2-0 against Concord Junior SC. It is a fantastic achievement to make the final of Football NSW State Cup and the 16A/1 girls are now the number one 16year old female team in NSW.
As you may be aware SSFA is a participant in the FNSW SAP program for boys in u9 to u12 age groups & girls in the u10 to u13 age groups. These squads are made up of local players who nearly all started playing at one of our SSFA member clubs. Over the last couple…
