Thanks for volunteering to be a team manager at GUFC! Team managers play an important role in ensuring football is enjoyed by everyone at GUFC. We appreciate your help.
Below is a summary of your duties as manager:
Managers must wear the yellow jacket at all times during games. This is so you are clearly visible to match officials.
Each team must also provide one ground control person who wears an orange jacket at all ovals except when playing at Kareela 2 and 3 where two ground control persons are required. The ground control person cannot be the same person as the designated coach or manager. The ground control person is responsible for the behaviour of their own spectators and must cooperate with the Club Ground Controllers at all times.

Always ensure your team’s behaviour (including players, coaches and spectators) is appropriate and in line with our codes of conduct.
Ensure the match ball is always at the game and is properly inflated. At Gymea Bay Oval, a pump is available in the male changeroom.
Make sure all players:
Fines apply from the Sutherland Shire Football Association if this is not done.
Training requests are made via an online form. The link will be provided to coaches and managers once they have registered as a volunteer on Playfootball.
Once all the teams have been announced and everyone has had time to enter their training preferences, the committee will allocate the training timeslots and the lists will be available on the webpage.
Priority is generally given to our U6/7 teams for the earlier timeslots.
We do our best to make sure all teams receive their 1st or 2nd preference, so please ensure the team has been consulted and only one form entry is completed per team.
All players u12 and over are required to wear a unique number of the back of their playing strip shirt. Watch the website for uniform shop opening times to have shirt numbers put on prior to the season start. The GUFC uniform shop at Gymea Bay Oval is then open each Saturday and Sunday of the season while games are being played.
Attend the pre season coaches and managers meeting to pickup your team’s kit bag (if required) and manager’s guide. All teams are provided with a match ball, yellow jacket and goalie jersey (except u6-u10). If you require a kit bag – containing bibs and cones – contact GUFC gear officer uniforms@gufc.com.au
Keep yourself informed
Check your emails and the website to see if your team is rostered on for ground control
Understand what ground control involves. When your team is rostered, coordinate your team members to undertake the duty.
Complete a white Accident Form in the event of any injuries. On game days, these are available at ground control offices (any ground) and will be sent to the SSFA with the match sheet. If a Accident Form was forgotten to be filled out, your team’s coach or manager must email secretary@gufc.com.au of the incident. You should include Ground / Player’s Name / Date of Injury / Team / Nature of Injury / Any Remarks
For incidents at training, contact secretary@gufc.com.au who will complete a report for you.
Alternate strips are available from ground control at Gymea Bay Oval.

Competition teams (u12+) must wear an alternate strip when:
– playing Bangor; and
– playing another GUFC team. Please note, the GUFC team drawn as the home team wears the alternate strip
Please return the shirts to ground control as soon as possible after your game, washed if possible.
Wet weather occasionally forces training and games to be cancelled.
At training, GUFC events and games, always ensure your team behaviour is appropriate and in line with our codes of conduct. Deal with any issues promptly, seriously and sensitively. The match ball, jacket, goalie jersey and any kit bag provided remain the property of the club. Team manager’s are responsible for returning it at the end of the season. Details of where and when will be advised.
