As you know, this season was GUFC’s 60th season.
We have organised various celebrations to focus on the club’s rich history and our special place in the Gymea Community as the “Family Club”.
Sutherland Titans FC was formed in 2005, by then GUFC President Stuart Teal & his daughter Bree Teal, with the idea of creating an environment for children with special needs to participate in sports and be just like their siblings, and give parents the opportunities to meet other parents in a relaxed atmosphere.
Games were initially played at Gymea Bay Oval 2 on Saturday afternoons. Stewart Teal who became the first Titans President, and his daughter Bree, spent many hours on and off the field to ensure that these games took place.
To celebrate our 60th anniversary, and the history we have with Titans, GUFC decided to sponsor the Titan of the Year Award with a trophy to be named the ‘Teal Cup’ and a small gift. The winner is awarded the perpetual trophy and all nominees for this award receive a small gift from GUFC.
Congratulations to the very first Teal Cup winner Zac McKenzie. Zac is a very well deserved winner of the inaugural Titan of the Year Award being both a fabulous Titans player and special mentor to all his peers.
