Update Season 2020 – 25/5/20
GUFC is pleased to inform you that we are getting closer & closer to being able to resume training for the 2020 season. FNSW have lifted the temporary suspension of football, however, we are waiting on council to give us access to our fields.
In the next few days, all team coaches & managers registered on SSFA Shared Services will receive an email with the requirements for training information. After going through the information, the coach or manager will need to advise our club if the team wishes to train, or not, during stage one of returning to training.
The preparation required of the club committee to meet the guidelines will take time. The club needs to work through a return to training phase, which requires information & documents sent to Sutherland Shire Council, and the SSFA, before training will be officially sanctioned.
A series of guidelines have been issued which have a staged approach to return to training, in line with government orders, to protect the health & wellbeing of our community.
GUFC Executive Committee has reviewed the first stage requirements and wish to move on with planning to ensure teams can comfortably train as soon as possible.
In summary, the first stage allows the following:
-training in small groups of no more than 10 people;
-maintaining Social distancing of 1.5m between players;
-spacing so that there is no more than 1 person per 4 square metres;
-non contact skill training drills – passing, dribbling, shooting; and
-no spitting permitted.
These requirements require more from volunteers and means we can have no more than 10 people per one quarter of a field. It also means we need to revise our training allocations at our fields for all the teams that wish to train.
In addition to all of this, we need to meet a whole range of social distancing and hygiene requirements.
As we work through all this, we ask coaches and managers to please respond to our email as soon as possible after it is sent so we can start our planning.
In the meantime, please be patient, and remain off fields, as we cannot resume training yet.
Again, thank you for your patience, stay healthy and hope to see you very soon.
