Introducing our Women’s Registrar Team

These lovely ladies organise and manage all the registrations across the entire club, Kristie is U8-U12 Registrar, Sian U6-U7 Registrar and Lisa Senior Registrations.

Sian and Kristie joined the committee this year, while Lisa is a Life Member of GUFC and also part of our Executive Committee. Lisa joined the committee in 2009 after being asked by her son’s coach to join.

“My knowledge of football extended only to managing my son’s team, so the prospect of being on the committee was a little daunting. My first role was Minutes Secretary” Lisa Brown

In a similar situation both Sian and Kristie joined the committee after spending time with club with their children registered as players. Joining the committee is their way of giving back to the community and helping to forge a greater future for GUFC. Kristie has also played on a GUFC team for many years along with her husband.

When asked what it was like joining the GUFC Committee both women found our Committee members very friendly and welcoming of new members, ideas and passion to see the community grow.

“Lisa has been doing a phenomenal job and with the growth of the club, needed some help which Sian and I were happy to provide” Kristy Baker

‘It is heart warming to see new female committee members this season. We all bring something different to our meetings and get togethers. These women are definitely key figures in the future of GUFC’ With over a third of players being female, it is important that we are also well represented in an official capacity’ Lisa Brown

In celebration of Female Football Week we asked the ladies which strong women inspire them;

Kristie is inspired by her mother while Lisa is has been strongly influenced by Denise Morcombe, the mother of Daniel Morcombe and co-founder of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Despite the tragedy in her life, Denise and her husband aim to promote child safety education whilst supporting young victims of crime.

Finally with an inspirational line of her own Sian answered; “there are just so many inspiring women leaders in sport and other areas it is too hard to choose!”

Thank you ladies for being inspirations to everyone at our club in your actions and support and for so openly sharing, which can be daunting for the even the bravest. You are all an inspiration to all women in GUFC and the entire community.
