Fruiticious, Your Local Green Grocer
87 Gymea Bay Road, Gymea (at the pedestrian crossing)
Ph: 8581 2027 for all orders
As the new kid on the block, Sal from Fruiticious Gymea is already making a name for his business in The Shire – an area that’s certainly not short for competition.
“While we might be a small shop, we try to be different to set us apart from everyone else out there.”
“Old-fashioned service goes a long way and with a small shop, it’s much easier to bring it back to the basics and really concentrate on the freshness of our produce.”
Working 118-hour weeks since first opening Fruiticious in October, you’ll find Sal visiting Sydney Markets every second day to ensure each and every product stocked in his new shop lasts longer for his customers.
And he has his father Moses to thank for everything he knows about the fresh produce industry – including his relentless work ethic.
“I learned all there is to know in this industry [by] working for my Dad. I knew from an early age this was what I wanted to do.”
His father Moses was a migrant from Lebanon, arriving in Australia as a child. Working closely together managing greengrocers from South Hurstville to Macarthur to Eastgardens, Sal was not only able to hone his expertise but develop a sense of understanding and ability to cater to all facets of the cultural melting pot that is Sydney.
Now working on his first sole enterprise as a proprietor/greengrocer, Sal is determined to apply everything he’s learned to his new shop.
“Customers demand convenience now, so we are always listening and learning to stay ahead of their wants and exceed their expectations.”
“We also try to cater to the vibrant social life of The Shire, from gourmet cheese platters to stuffed Portobello mushroom and eggplant – everything our customers might need for a dinner party.”
