Huge thank you to our grading panel for all their hard work over the past few weeks. They’ve given up their nights and weekends to organise hundreds and hundreds of players into teams – not an easy job and your efforts are appreciated.

So what’s next?

Now you’ve been graded, you need to …

Swap details: hopefully at the end of grading, you swapped contact details with your team coach/manager.
Your coach and manager will receive a finalised team list by early March and should contact you then.

Arrange a training time: it’s up to teams to organise their training. Your team coach/manager will coordinate this.
Teams will be advised when training can commence on Gymea Bay Oval at the Coaches & Managers Meeting – although at this stage Sutherland Shire Council have advised clubs there is to be no training/playing on council turf fields until Tuesday, 17 March and Kareela synthetic until Tuesday, 31 March.

Gala day and trial games: there will be a miniroos gala day on 21st March at Gymea Bay Oval and trial games organised for some other U8 – U18 teams. Watch for details. Your team coach/manager should also confirm details.

Get ready for round 1: the competition kicks off Saturday, 28th March and Sunday, 29th March.

Uniforms: GUFC sell uniforms (shirt, shorts & socks) and merchandise out of our ground control office at Gymea Bay Oval.  The uniform shop will be open at various times until the season commences – please watch the website for opening times. Shirt numbering is also available. Team managers arrange a unique shirt number for each player in their team – shirt numbering is only for all players in u12+ teams.
Boots & shin pads should be also purchased eg Rebel Sport Miranda (please mention at the register you would like to link your Rebel Membership with Gymea United FC)

Keep up-to-date: please keep yourself up-to-date during the season. Here’s how:

  • Visit this website regularly
  • Sign up to the weekly e-newsletter – sign up at
  • ‘LIKE’ our Facebook page
  • Check the club calendar – available at
  • Ask your team coach and manager

Been handed the job of coach or manager for 2020. Firstly, THANK YOU for getting involved! Here’s what you need to do straight away……

Join the GUFC 2020 Coaches & Managers Facebook Group – information will be posted immediately on the Facebook page for you!  You will also receive all information via the weekly Striker and on the GUFC website.  If you joined the Facebook group in 2019 you will still be a member for 2020.

Contact details – update your details or sign up as a coach or manager on the Shared Services website – see below.  You will receive a finalised team sheet, with team grade, by the beginning of March.  If you do not, please email

Contact your team members – touch base with your team ASAP after receiving your team sheet. Encourage them to visit for info and to sign up to the weekly e-newsletter from GUFC.  If any details on the team sheet are incorrect, email

Arrange training – chose a suitable training time with the team, then log onto our training booking system and add your Club Team Name (more details below) and choose the team’s preferred training allocation / time.

Please note:
* clubs haven’t been given access to Council ovals on a Monday afternoon/night in 2020 so there will be no training spots available at Gymea Bay Oval on a Monday;
* time slots are now limited to one hour, on the hour ie 5pm until 6pm
* one training session per team – if you require a second one please let Shared Services know and this will be reviewed when all teams have a booking

u6 and u7 training
; u6 and u7 all train together Tuesday’s or Wednesday’s 4pm until 6pm. U6 and U7 training is held at set times to better support coaches, organise equipment and create a fun atmosphere for the kids. It also allows teams to train together if low on numbers and/or play games against each other at training.  Arrange a time / allotted spot via our training booking system

Attend the coach and manager meeting
on Wednesday, 11th March. The meeting is held at Gymea Bay Oval Hall. One person from each team must attend:
* MiniRoos (u6-u11) – 7pm-8pm
* Junior teams (u12-u18) – 8pm-8.30pm
Senior teams, particularly new coaches & managers, are more than welcome to attend the 8pm meeting on the night to collect team sheets etc.

We will only be providing miniroo teams (u6-u11) this season with a printed GUFC Coach and Manager Guide. All junior and senior teams will be emailed an electronic copy. Please email if you would like a hard copy of the 2020 Guide.

Gala day and trial games
– advise your team of the miniroos gala day and U8 – U18 team trial games details once GUFC confirms the details on the website

It is really important any trial games you organise for your team must be advised to for authorisation by the SSFA and/or Football NSW.

Football NSW Insurance – players are only covered by the FNSW Insurance Policy if they have registered and their registration accepted by GUFC prior to participating in football (including training, trials etc.) and only if they are using a field that has been allocated for that purpose by the SSFA/ Council and their activity is expressly approved.

– SSFA Shared Services offers GUFC assistance to ease the administration burden on our Club Volunteers.  Our GUFC Committee is still the FIRST POINT of contact for your questions but, if you are contacted by SSFA Shared Services directly, please know that they are acting on our behalf to help with our Club’s administration.  As they are looking purely after GUFC’s admin, they will not be accessible out of hours or on the weekends.  Their hours are Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm. Gymea United FC’s 2020 Coaches and Managers Contact List will again be listed and updated on SSFA Shared Services website.  Please ensure your details are up to date to avoid missing out on communications for your team and to be included in our club’s Coaches & Managers List for 2020.
