2012 Coach Education
GUFC will again offer a series of coach education events this season. Coach and player education is very important to GUFC. By hosting regular sessions, we hope to greatly improve our player and coach knowledge and enjoyment of the game. On offer this season:
Grassroots coaching certificate
Who attends? Beginner GUFC coaches
Date: Friday 30th March
Time: 6-9pm
Where: Gymea Bay Oval
Instructors: Gary Wall, GUFC Head Coach
Overview
This course is aimed at beginner coaches of players up to 10 years of age. It is designed to provide a basic understanding of your role and practical ideas for training sessions. The course covers:
*What kids’ coaching is about
*What kind of activities to provide at training sessions
*How to put together the content of a kids’ training session
Each coach received a copy of the FFA publication ‘Coaching Grassroots Football’.
Coach the coaches
There will be three sessions this season:

Systems of Play
Who attends? All GUFC coaches are invited to attend sessions.
Coaches and players from u12A, u13A, u14A, u15A, jw12A, jw13A, jw14a and jw15a teams will "actively participate" in the session on a roster system. See timetable here>>
Systems of Play is effectively a coaching session for coaches, and additional training session for the teams above.
Date: Monday night's during 2012 season, commencing 19/3/12 and ending 25/6/12 (excluding 9/4, 16/4, 11/6)
Time: 6-7pm and 7.15-8.15pm

Overview
This NEW program focusses on junior boys and girls making the transition from SSF to the full size field. They will be coached on the coaching philosophies of GUFC, which include playing out from the back and retaining possession. The key focus will also be systems of play including the FFA National Curriculum of playing the 1-4-3-3.
Friday night skills night
Who attends?
Coaches and players from u13-u15 and jw13-jw15 teams (except A-grade). Friday night skills night is effectively a coaching session for coaches, and additional training session for the teams above.
Date: Last Friday of each month during season - 27/4, 25/5, 29/6 and 20/7
Time: 6-7.30pm
Where: Gymea Bay Oval

Overview
The Friday night skills session will follow on from Systems if Play (above). It will focus on player requirements relevant to age and grade, topics will be based around skills development, structured training and participation. Sessions will also have a motivational component based around the requirements of skills based improvement and enjoyment of the game.
