Interested in Playing?

GUFC is a friendly and family-oriented club. We welcome players of all ages and abilities.

As one of the largest clubs in the Sutherland Shire competition, we had over 1,400 registered players and 130+ teams in 2010. We field a wide range of teams in just about every competition age group and grade.

Common Q&A's for new members

I've never played before, what do I need to do?

To get involved in football at GUFC, there are a few basics you need to know:

  • Season: the football season runs from March to August each year
  • Registration: all players must register to play. Registration usually occurs in late January, early February each year. Go to our calendar at this time for exact registration dates
  • Uniforms: all players will need to purchase a club uniform, available at registration time
  • Team placement/grading: once registered, the club advises you of grading days from which you'll be placed in a team.
When will registrations take place?

Registrations generally take place in late January and February. Keep an eye on our website in early in the new year for all the details.  Or why not sign up to our e-newsletter to make sure you get notification when registrations are taking place.

What age groups can play football?

Children right through to the "young at heart" can play football. Children must be turning five in the calendar year to play. For example, for the 2012 competition/season (March-August), you child must be turning five in 2012 to be eligible to play.

But I don't have a team, can I still play?

You don't need a team to play. Individuals register and GUFC places and/or grades all participants into suitable teams.

When will the season commence?

Season kick off is in late March and runs right through until August.

I've still got questions, who can I contact?
